Located in the North Pennines AONB, Whitfield is a traditional upland country estate of c.12500 acres occupying much of the West Allen Valley in south west Northumberland. It is nationally and internationally renowned as a sporting estate with top level grouse, partridge and pheasant shooting. It is also well known for its natural beauty and its trees.
The Estate has only changed hands once since 1167.
In 2018 a new partnership was formed involving the various separate Estate enterprises – agricultural and residential tenancies, in hand farming operations, the sporting, forestry, caravan and lodge park businesses and the Elk’s Head public house. A profile of each partnership enterprise can be found in the ‘What We Do’ section of the site.
We are excited by the new partnership which we believe will have significant financial and operational benefits for all the enterprises involved, which now operate as one business with one shared goal.
